Benzimidazole Tablet

Make sure you don’t consume both medicines together; you have to take one medicine, and if it doesn’t work, you can try the second one. Mebendazole and Fenbendazole have different ways of consumption; you can learn about both separately below:

Mebendazole

Mebendazole is available in tablet form, which needs to be swallowed with water only. It is available in 500 mg strength in this combo pack, and you need to take one dose once; you might need to take it again in the next few days if your condition requires.

Fenbendazole

Fenbendazole is generally given for three days, once a day. It is a short-course medicine treatment for parasite infection, which comes in a tablet form and needs to be swallowed with water only. Your health provider will assess your health after a few days, and if required, you might be suggested to do one more course of treatment.

The working of Mebendazole and Fenbendazole is similar at a few levels, but let’s learn the working of both medicines.

Mebendazole

Mebendazole stops the glucose absorption by the worms, which is their energy source. When consumption of glucose is stopped, they get paralysed and later die, and this is how the infection is treated.  

Fenbendazole

Fenbendazole has a specific way of working and treating the infected site. It binds beta-tubulin around the cells of the parasite worms. This action leads to stopping the activity of division and growth of the worms, and they die.

Mebendazole side effects and Fenbendazole side effects are similar, which are mild and may disappear as the body gets in sync with the medicine. If they persist and create discomfort, you must visit the health provider for further treatment.
