Mupiheal Ointment (Mupirocin)

• Before applying the ointment, ensure the affected skin area is clean and dry.
• Apply a small amount of the ointment to the infected area using your fingertip or a clean cotton swab.
• The ointment should be applied two to three times daily or as directed by your doctor.
• You can cover the treated area with a sterile gauze dressing if deemed necessary.
• Remember to wash your hands before and after applying the ointment to prevent spreading of the infection.

Mupiheal Ointment 15gm may cause minor side effects like burning, stinging, itching, pain, redness, and dryness at the application site. If these side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor for further management.

Management Of Side Effects:

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless, which resolve on discontinuing the use of Mupiheal Ointment 15gm. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor. Here are some general guidelines for managing common side effects:

• Minor burning sensation: If you feel a burning sensation after applying the ointment, try using it at night time when you're less likely to disrupt the area.
• Itching: Avoid scratching the area where you've applied Mupiheal Ointment 15gm as this can make itching worse.

Mupiheal Ointment 15gm contains mupirocin (2%), which works on the body in the following ways:

• Isoleucyl-tRNA Synthetase Inhibition: Mupirocin works by reversibly binding to an enzyme present in bacteria called isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase. This enzyme plays a crucial role in bacterial protein synthesis.
• Halting Protein Synthesis: By binding to the isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, mupirocin interferes with the incorporation of a specific amino acid called isoleucine into bacterial proteins, effectively stopping protein synthesis.
• Killing Susceptible Bacteria: Due to its unique action, mupirocin exhibits bactericidal activity against susceptible bacteria at the concentrations reached after topical application.
